NEED TO SAVE November

Need to Save November

Can you believe it’s NOVEMBER already?! What is HAPPENING?

Great news though, we are doing SO MUCH BETTER this month. Honestly, last week was really a comeback.

I DID keep the Target jeans, but will be returning the others, AND the red nail polish I bought because who am I kidding? I don’t have time to paint my nails!

Size 14 Wild Fable - Target

Halloween was the real miracle. I not only made it through the whole day without buying anything, I did not spend a DIME on costumes this year. That’s right, our costumes were made from everything we already OWNED. WIN FOR OWNITOCTOBER!

  • My costume: Unicorn (Ruthie’s handmade unicorn hoodie from my 25th bday, pink joggers, tie dye sneakers, rainbow heart earrings)

  • Mila’s costume: Unicorn (pink fuzzy hooded zip up - from friend Harper :) and the head (yikes) of the plush unicorn stacking toy from aunt Ruthie) safety pinned on top).

  • Jackson’s costume: Uncle Kebuh’s (Kevin’s) Dalmatian costume. Handmade by our grandma 🙂

  • Babe’s costume: Best dad ever (wore his own clothes lol).

This month’s theme is SAVINGS.

Saving in the traditional sense of putting money aside in a savings account (ideally a high yield savings account), but also of NOT spending.

I joked about this in one of my girl math posts, but I also mean this. If you’re not spending money on random things that you probably don’t need, it is SAVING. Now it’s just a matter of allocating that savings to the right place.

  • Do you need to physically put it in a different account so you don’t touch it?

  • Do you need to set up automatic savings for yourself so you don’t have to think about it or manually transfer?

  • Do you need to keep your savings in cash so you have a visual and physical representation of the separation?

  • Do you need to complete a savings challenge to give you the motivation to reach a goal?

Whatever savings action you take this month, just remember: Savings is about the HABIT, not the amount. Start small, but start saving. Even if it’s just a dollar.

Let’s look at the data: What we have spent so far in November

  • Groceries/Household: $89.59 (and most of that was actually diapers and baby food)

  • Dining out/Alcohol/Entertainment/Misc: $153

  • Childcare (diapers, wipes, formula, orajel): See groceries/houehold

Money WIN: 3 no spend days last week!

Money WIN: Made some money grading an exam

Money WIN: Brainstormed some great crafting/income ideas :)

This month I would like to work on:

  • Dining/Eating out/Entertainment - We still need a lot of work in this area and I have some plans this week

  • NO SHOPPING ALONE OR ACCOMPANIED- I will be locking up my phone lol

Money GOAL: Return items to get money back

Money GOAL: List things for sale. I need to bring in some MONEY.

Money GOAL COMPLETED: Complete first week of NO SPEND/NEED TO SAVE November.
