Week 3: OWN IT October

We have done 3 out of the 5 if baking pumpkin bread can sub for the pie :)

Week 3: OWN IT October Progress Update

I have good and bad news.

Good news: I did pretty dang good again.

Bad news: My stupidity led my daughter to get second degree burns.

Given what went down last week I’m surprised I didn’t spend more.

The week started off strong, I boldly made plans to leave the house TWICE. Both times I planned to venture out with Mila, it never happened.

The day I was to go out and about was Wednesday…the coffee incident. While brewing a pour over coffee, Mila was in her chair too close, and kicked the boiling water and grounds all over herself.

The before…I set it up again to show how it was…and how silly.

The after…

I still can’t believe how dumb I was. I should have never put her chair so close. But everyone keeps saying: accidents happen.

My sweet baby angel. So good despite all the pain :/

Usually I would have distracted myself by online shopping for things I think are necessary during the crisis. BUT, I managed to go the whole weekend without spending on any impulses.

Did I put together some shopping carts? YES!

Did I browse for a long time on Facebook Marketplace? YES!

But did I only get FREE magazines and make no other stops on Sunday? ALSO YES!

Let’s look at the data: What we have spent so far in October

Groceries/Household: $609.70 (baby food and Nespresso sent us skyrocketing)

Dining out/Alcohol/Entertainment/Misc: $862.71 - Yikes

Childcare (diapers, wipes, formula, orajel): $328.25 - Yikes again

Money WIN: New outfits/accessories/home decor purchased: ZERO - OMG I'M DOING IT

Money WIN: Paid off my credit card in full, on time AND put it in the safe (I actually cannot be trusted with it)

Money WIN: Successfully completed a NO SPEND weekend. For maybe the first time ever.

Home made “graveyard dirt” for a treat this weekend :)

Fall decor I already OWNED (found in the storage room)

More Fall/Halloween decor…and Winnie

This week I would like to work on:

  • Dining/Eating out/Entertainment - As usual. We must stop, but also, for ONLY dining out it is $277.58 right now…and that is under $350 like I wanted!

  • NO SHOPPING ALONE - no impulse purchases, let’s finish the month strong.

  • Following up on outstanding bills - I have definitely had some scam calls lately, but it’s never a bad idea to keep an eye out for anything you may have missed. Medical bills have been keeping us on our toes.

Money GOAL: Only have pizza Friday for dining out.

Money GOAL: Complete November money calendar - details to come in a separate post and video.

Money GOAL COMPLETED: pay off my credit card and LOCK IT UP. I did it!! Now I just need to keep the balance at $0
